Sculptural willow balls

This time of year when the leaves are blown from the trees I can’t help myself from harvesting interesting twigs and vines from the hedgerows.  I love the colours and textures of bark and found in my store bark from eucalyptus and pine which I had previously harvested.  A few days soaking in my trough…

Willow animals – Bristol

A great week of weaving ‘deer on the lawn’ at Downs School.  I worked with years 4, 5, 6 and 7 over two and a half days, we wove our own frames for the animals and the pupils were responsible for thinking about proportion and shape whilst concentrating on weaving for strength.   

Shepton in Bloom

I have made a solid woven 3.5 meter ‘willow flower tower’ as part of Shepton in Bloom 2010.  The tower, surprisingly heavy and only just fitting on my car roof rack, provides a focal point to the bottom of Town Street as well as a sense of fun and a reminder to Somerset’s willow growing tradition.
